On the afternoon of April 13, the Zhejiang Special Session of the 2026 China International Consumer Products Expo (CPE) was held in Haikou, Hainan. As a key part of Zhejiang’s “Apparel & Food” themed launch, Babyyum – a leading domestic brand in infant snacks and complementary foods – unveiled its annual strategic new product line: Infant Formula Congee & Noodles. Targeting the staple food needs of infants aged 6 months and above up to 18 months+, the range showcases the brand’s latest advances in scientific feeding through FD freeze-drying technology, age-graded formulations, and rigorous quality control.
Filling the Feeding Gap, Creating a New Staple Food Category
Guo Baoping, Founder and Chairman of Babyyum, stated at the conference that the current domestic infant complementary food market is dominated by rice cereal, primarily suitable for the puréed feeding stage around 6 months. However, after 8 months, babies enter a critical period for developing chewing ability and diversifying food textures, where traditional rice cereal can no longer meet nutritional and developmental needs. Many families switch to homemade complementary foods, facing challenges such as unbalanced nutrition, inappropriate particle sizes, and inconsistent food safety.
To address this market gap, since 2020 Babyyum has invested heavily in R&D tailored to Chinese family feeding habits, exploring products that integrate Chinese meal formats, nutritional formulation, and instant convenience. Following years of technical breakthroughs, the company has successfully launched this nutritionally balanced infant staple food, ready to serve in just 30 seconds, offering parents a professional, convenient, and reassuring feeding solution.
FD Freeze-Drying for Freshness, Age-Graded for Healthy Growth
Produced on Babyyum’s jointly invested dedicated production line – China’s first for freeze-dried infant complementary foods – the product line uses aerospace-grade FD freeze-drying technology, retaining over 94% of nutrients and original flavors. When reconstituted, the texture is soft and smooth, closely resembling freshly cooked meals.
The range covers four progressive stages: 8+, 10+, 12+, and 18+ months, embodying the brand’s consistent age-specific feeding philosophy. Ingredient varieties increase gradually from 6 to 14, while particle sizes progress from 3mm to 10mm. Energy density and flavor profiles advance with age, supporting babies’ gradual adaptation to solid foods and development of chewing skills.
Nutritionally, each serving combines grains, vegetables, and meat, with meat and vegetable content exceeding 50%. Protein is sourced exclusively from high-quality ingredients such as beef, shrimp, and fish, with no plant protein added. The formula also provides 23 essential nutrients, supplementing infants’ daily dietary needs beyond breast milk or formula and delivering balanced nutrition in every bite.
Dual Standards for Safety, Pure Formulas at the Core
Safety remains the core promise of the Babyyum brand. The new product line not only fully complies with China’s national standard GB 10769 Other Cereal Complementary Foods for Infants and Young Children, but also proactively follows the group standard Complementary Food Meals for Infants and Young Children, developed based on national standards with stricter safety and nutritional requirements.
Continuing its pure formulation philosophy, the products uphold six “no additions”: no preservatives, artificial flavors, artificial colorings, white sugar, thickeners, or monosodium glutamate, and pass more than 200 safety tests. For allergen management, the brand goes beyond national labeling requirements by voluntarily disclosing potential cross-contamination allergens from shared production lines, providing transparent guidance for families with allergy-prone infants. This practice underscores the brand’s commitment to consumer right-to-know and product safety.
Live Tasting Demonstration, Bringing Feeding Philosophy to Life
During the launch, Guo Baoping invited the host to taste the Beef Pumpkin Millet congee flavor. Staff prepared the product on site, with the congee reaching a soft, natural texture in just 30 seconds. The host commented that the taste closely resembled freshly cooked congee, breaking stereotypes of traditional complementary foods as overly mushy and monotonous.
In the subsequent Q&A session, Guo further elaborated on nutritional matching and allergen control. He noted that Babyyum collaborates with Zhejiang University, the Chinese Nutrition Society, and other institutions to conduct ongoing research on infant nutritional needs, with annual field studies into family feeding trends.
Booth Showcase & Future Commitment to Chinese Infants
During the expo, Babyyum set up a product display area at the Zhejiang Pavilion, offering live introductions and preparation demonstrations that drew numerous visitors. As one of only two corporate representatives at the Zhejiang Special Session New Product Launch, Babyyum highlighted the innovation of Zhejiang brands in technology-driven consumer goods. The host concluded that from technologically enhanced silk textiles to precision nutrition in infant foods, Zhejiang enterprises are empowering traditional industries through innovation to meet consumer demand for a higher quality of life.
Moving forward, Babyyum will continue to focus on the infant complementary food sector, driven by R&D innovation. Centered on the growth needs of Chinese babies, the brand will develop more scientific, safe, and convenient feeding solutions, easing parental feeding anxiety and making parent-child time easier and more enjoyable.
